From The Board Of Directors
To all players and captains:
The board of directors has decided to publish this missive in light of recurring events of violent conduct, abusive language and malicious foul play. GRSL is first and foremost an adult recreational league. As such, we expect all participants to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner. However, this expectation has largely been unfulfilled by several players and team captains. These incidents have forced us to take a hard-line stance regarding issues that involve abusive language, violent conduct or inappropriate conduct on and off the field. We have decided to harshly discipline any and all players who believe they are above the league’s rules and regulations and by-laws. There’s absolutely NO excuse for misbehaving. If you believe you or your team has been wronged in any way or manner, there are proper avenues to deal with such situations. If you show any contempt, violent behavior or abusive language towards any other player, referee or spectator, the league will act decisively and swiftly. We can’t emphasize our stance enough: We will make absolutely no exceptions for any player(s) whose unruly behavior on and off the field causes strife, fear or unnecessary tension. Even if referees do not reprimand players for such a behavior, reports from witnesses of such a fact will be enough for the league to deliver a suspension to the culprit(s).
Our league is about playing soccer not boxing or karate. Our league is about playing the sport we all love, not about aggression and violence. Also, let us remember that in addition to players and referees, we have spectators and families who come and support their favorite team. We have small children running around and enjoying themselves at every game. Let us not give them a bad impression/example, in short, let us behave like the adult people we claim to be.

Trash Talk -- revisited.
It's sad we have to post this once again, but it seems players are neglecting their individual trash-picking duties. Several board members are constantly picking up after every one's mess. This is simply unacceptable. Leaving trash around the fields is detrimental for the league's image. If we want the city/county to give us a fair shake with respect to playing fields, then please let us show them we deserve them.Posted by Administrator on Apr 16, 2007
